چکیده
Abstract Background Although increasing evidence showed the correlations between white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) and cognitive impairment, relationship them is still modest. Many researchers began to focus on variation caused by heterogeneity of WMH. We tried explore pathological in WMH using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), so as provide a new insight into future research. Methods Diffusion weighted images (DWIs) brain were acquired from 73 patients with 18 healthy controls, which then modeled DTI. measured fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), axial (AD), radial (RD) periventricular frontal lobe (pFL), occipital (pOL), parietal (pPL) deep centrum ovales (dCO), grouped these measures according Fazekas scale. Then we compared DTI metrics different regions same scale grade. Results Significantly lower FA values (all p < 0.001), higher MD 0.001) RD associated observed (pFL) all other grades. The AD pFL was than that pPL dCO, but differences groups not high RD, indicated effect size. In normal control group, significantly or less significant different. difference pPL, pOL dCO matter, Conclusion Distinct processes can be revealed regions. These may represent effects severe demyelination within

Age-Related Modifications of Diffusion Tensor Imaging Parameters and White Matter Hyperintensities as Inter-Dependent Processes
Microstructural changes of White Matter (WM) associated with aging have been widely described through Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) parameters. In parallel, White Matter Hyperintensities (WMH) as observed on a T2-weighted MRI are extremely common in older individuals. However, few studies have investigated both phenomena conjointly. The present study investigates aging effects on DTI parameter...
متن کاملEvaluation of White Matter Tracts in Autistic Individuals: A Review of Diffusion Tensor Imaging Studies
Introduction: Many cognitive and social deficits in autism are caused by abnormal functional connections between brain networks, which are manifested by impaired integrity of white matter tracts. White matter tracts are like the "highways" of the brain, which allow fast and efficient communication in different areas of the brain. The purpose of this article is to review the results of autism st...
متن کاملWhite Matter Changes in OCD Revealed by Diffusion Tensor Imaging.
UNLABELLED IntroductionThe aim of this study was to investigate white matter (WM) abnormalities in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and its relationship to severity of obsessive-compulsive symptoms. METHODS Conventional and diffusion tensor imaging were acquired in nine patients with OCD and nine gender- and age-matched healthy volunteers. Changes in fractional anisotropy (FA) and mean dif...
متن کاملWhite Matter Change Revealed by Diffusion Tensor Imaging in Gliomas
BACKGROUND Tumor-related white matter change is detected at late stages with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), when mass effect or prominent edema is present. We analyzed if diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) white matter change earlier than conventional MRI. METHODS Twenty-six patients with gliomas (World Health Organization grade II, 5; grade III, 12; and grade IV, 9) within 2 cm from the poste...
متن کاملWhite Matter Changes in Alzheimer’s Disease Revealed by Diffusion Tensor Imaging with TBSS
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder characterized by impairments in multiple cognitive domains and it is hard to diagnose in early stage because it’s not easy to recognize and develop slowly. In this study, we try to evaluate the difference of white matter between AD and health volunteers using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and try to provide some evidence for...
